The Nodz apps
Nodz in its own window, without a browser tab. The app is a full IRC client: besides Nodz it connects to any other IRC network.
- Several networks at once, each with its own rooms and direct messages (Nodz, Libera.Chat, OFTC or any server you add).
- Signs in once on Nodz and then stays signed in with a revocable key; passwords for other networks go into your system's keychain.
- Notifications for direct messages and mentions, only if you switch them on.
- Free, no ads, no tracking. English, Nederlands, Français and Deutsch.
Download
Current version:
Windows
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
Linux
64-bit Linux (x86_64). The .deb is for Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint; the AppImage runs on most other distributions.
Android
Coming later. Until then the web chat works well on your phone, and you can add it to your home screen.
To check that a download is complete and unchanged, compare its SHA-256 checksum with: SHA256SUMS
Installing
Windows
Open the downloaded file and follow the steps. Nodz then appears in your Start menu.
The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Choose "More info" and then "Run anyway". Check the SHA-256 checksum first if you want to be sure the file came from us.
Linux
On Debian, Ubuntu or Linux Mint, open a terminal in your downloads folder and run:
sudo apt install ./Nodz_amd64.deb
Or use the AppImage: make it executable and start it.
chmod +x Nodz_amd64.AppImage
./Nodz_amd64.AppImage
The apps are almost ready. As soon as they can be downloaded, the links will appear here.
No installing needed
You don't need the app to use Nodz: the web chat works in any modern browser, on a computer or a phone. Regular IRC apps can connect as well.
Privacy
The app keeps your network list and settings on your device, never a Nodz password. When you add another network, the app connects straight to that server. Details are in the privacy notice: Privacy
