Who can find and message you
Choose whether people can find you by username, block people, and reset your inbox.
You decide who can reach you. These settings are in Settings → Privacy and Settings → Blocked people.
Being found by username
Let people find me by exact username is on by default. Even then nobody can browse or search Nodz: people need to know your username exactly, and their first message arrives as a request you can accept, decline or block.
Switch it off and nobody can start a chat with you by username any more. People can still reach you through invitation links you share, and your existing chats continue as before.
Block someone
- Select Block on a request, or ⛔ at the top of a conversation. The conversation is deleted from your device and you no longer receive messages from that account.
- Blocking happens on your devices: the other person is not told.
- To undo it, go to Settings → Blocked people and select Unblock.
Reset your inbox
People who looked you up by username send their first message to your inbox. If you receive unwanted requests, Settings → Inbox → Reset my inbox gives you a new one: everyone who has not reached you yet is cut off. Existing conversations are not affected.
What others can see about you
Only your username, and only to people you chat with, unless you join someone's invitation as a guest. Nodz has no profiles, no profile photos, no "last seen" and no phone book upload.
